Monitoring and evaluation is required to give us a better understanding of how well
our recycling, re-use and waste reduction schemes are working. It can help us measure
daily progress and capture the increase in levels of segregation. It can also help
us explain why certain schemes, initiatives and campaigns have succeeded or failed.
We have already started streamlining our collection, transportation and processing
systems for solid waste management. The next step is to provide tools for the regular
inflow of information to monitor the smooth running of the system.
This data will help optimise our services by improving the reliability & efficiency
of operations. Through data analysis, BBMP will be able to provide better information
to citizens & agencies; improve resource productivity & take concrete decisions
for overall operations & management. As a first step, we are looking at receiving
live data for key functions that need to be monitored. These are listed below; some
of them are already in use:
• One stop Swachha Bengaluru App developed for citizen complaints, Official reports
and Shuchi Mitras
• Daily attendance of Pourakarmikas, Drivers, Helpers, Supervisors and other workers
during both Mustering and De-mustering
• Live tracking of primary and secondary collection vehicles
• Daily data feed of quanta of waste carried by Secondary Vehicles
• Live data feed of quanta of waste from weighbridge/portable weighing scales
• 24x7 video surveillance of Blackspots and Lorry/Transfer Points
• 24x7 video surveillance of Processing Facilities
