Leaf litter is a large component of the waste retrieved through street sweeping in several wards. With dense foliage along several roads, this is estimated to be a large proportion of our street sweeping waste, especially in certain seasons.
There are multiple low-cost modes that have been experimented in the city by local communities and BBMP. We currently have 4 units of varied scales in the city which are planned to be scaled up alongside or within BBMP owned parks. The aim is to process the dry leaf litter and garden waste generated locally at a local point in the neighbourhood/ward. This waste has a potential to be converted into high quality compost which can be sold as manure.
